Makes sense but
In a year marked by poor wage practices by the food industry, long time bubble tea franchise, Chatime, is the latest to bite the bullet.
News outlets have reported underpayment of staff to an hourly rate as low as $7.59.
However, inside information obtained by The YAP Natives own founder Martin Liu, reveals that the choice to underpay its staff wasn’t just Chatime director Charlley Zhao’s idea.
“He received tips from that guy from Grilld” said the anonymous source close to Zhao.
“You might even say…it was consulting”
That’s right, consulting.
Consulting is a service in the business world which involves taking your own idea and making your client believe it is there’s.
And that’s exactly what Grill’d did when it’s CEO Simon Crowe began sending cost cutting articles to Mr Zhao.
“It was all pro bono, like he was trying to help us or something.”
“It was weird…He even came in to do a talk about the Local Matters program”
Whilst no such program has been implemented to help cushion the negative press, it appears Chatime did implement the first strategy.
Therefore, The Native rates the consulting job a 6/10.
More on this story to come.
