During her 4th and most recent trip to Japan, the highlight for Davina Ong (23) was once again eating sashimi at the famous Tsukiji Fish Market.
Trying each variation, from regular to extra fatty, tuna to salmon, Davina spent a total of $150 in roughly 45 minutes.
Back in Sydney (and now technically under COVID-19 quarantine), Davina is skeptical of any Sashimi she consumes for less than $15 a slice, not served by a short Japanese lady.
“This probably wasn’t prepared on the docks” says Davina as she catches up with her sister for brunch at the Sydney Fish Markets. “It’s not smoky”
Davina’s older sister, Samantha (28), actually enjoys the Tuna which she had paid for.
“What’s wrong with it, it taste great”
“It’s just fresher at Tsjukiji to be honest. You probably wouldn’t understand.”
With a subpar Sashimi experience and nothing she can do about it until she returns to Tsukiji, Davina considers the half-price flights to Japan amidst the current coronavirus pandemic.
